An interactive Slade family history site

From little acorns…

:: BREAKING NEWS ::

The ‘brick wall’ that has blocked my family history journey for over 20 years has been demolished. And it’s all thanks to the author of a message that was posted online 4 years ago! This is great news and a wonderful story to boot! Read about the 20 year old puzzle here

My interest in the history of the Slade family started about 20 years ago. I’ve always loved listening to tales of bygone days, from my Mum & Dad, & my aunties – especially Stella and Vi – so I thought it would be interesting to create a website that family members can visit. Whether it’s just to read about the latest family history discovery, to add a comment, or, whether you want to add your own story, memory or recollection. That’s the reason the site is here, for anyone with a shared interest to contribute towards.

To get you started I’ve made a ‘I’d like to add…’ page for you to find out how to add your comments and stories – just click the link at the top of the page.

My initial intention was that this little site would be a private one, for family members ONLY – which required invited guests to register for a WordPress user account. This has however proved to be off-putting/too complicated to almost everyone I’ve told about the website. I’ve now changed the settings so that it’s no longer necessary to sign up/register as a WordPress user.

All comments left will still need to be checked by the ourfamilysroots team for approval, before they are added to the site.

All that being said, let’s get this show on the road – back to the past…

PS. Enjoy!!
